CO2 emissions are the main issue in climate change. Eramet is transforming its industry by seeking to control its own emissions. Pierre Gueudet, the Group’s Energy and Climate Director, provides an update on our objectives and actions, with concrete examples.

Producing renewable electricity – The example of Eramet’s subsidiary GCO in Senegal

One of our concrete actions to decarbonize is the use of renewable energy. An example is the project of our subsidiary GCO in Senegal, which consists of replacing 20% of the electricity produced from fuel oil with renewable energy produced from solar panels.

Replacing carbonized materials with bioreductors

Another example of concrete action to reduce our CO2 emissions is the replacement of 40% of the carbonized materials used in pyrometallurgical furnaces by bioreductors.
