Today, more than 8,000 students in Moanda are benefiting from renovated and modernized schools. This project is a part of Comilog’s CSR policy.
7 schools, 95 classrooms, 400 million CFA francs invested: the renovation and construction work on Moanda’s schools has allowed their severely dilapidated facilities to be modernized. This project, which was conducted following a process of local public consultations that took place in 2018 as part of the Group’s CSR road map and the United Nations sustainable development goals, aims to contribute to the development of Comilog’s host communities.
The ceremony to symbolically hand over the keys of the renovated schools took place on 25 October at Rigobert-Landji Public High School in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Minister of National Education, the political and administrative authorities of the municipality, as well as the teaching staff and students. The keys were handed over by Léod-Paul Batolo, Director and CEO of Comilog: “We are firmly committed to transforming our company, and we want to both change the way we think about Comilog and also to help transform the society around us,” he said.

These improvements will allow more than 8,000 local students to “access the tools of knowledge,” in the words of Léod-Paul Batolo, i.e. to benefit from better learning conditions and also to familiarize themselves with IT: a multimedia room – equipped with 20 computers with high-speed Internet access – is now available to students at Rigobert-Landji High School; three private high schools also have a high-speed Internet connection. The Fulbert-Bongotha Technical High School has also received a building devoted to training, which houses five workshops and offices. The renovation work also led to the removal of manganese fines and the refurbishment of the playgrounds at Public School A and Rigobert-Landji High School.

Work is set to continue in the city’s private high schools with the renovation of new classrooms and the installation of a multimedia room.
Comilog’s efforts in support of young people are not restricted to infrastructure, but also cover employment: the company has also launched a training program in partnership with the Moanda Technical High School.
