Grande Côte Opérations, the Group’s Senegalese subsidiary, is now ISO 50 001 certified for its energy management system – a first in Senegal!

In April 2021, the company had already obtained its ISO 14 001 certification for its environmental management system, also a first on a national scale for a mining company. This certification was confirmed this week by the annual follow-up audit of the Environmental Management System.

This is an important milestone for GCO, making it the first and only mine in Senegal to hold both certifications.

Preserving the environment and reducing CO2 emissions are priority commitments for GCO. As far as energy is concerned, we are making considerable efforts to reduce our consumption of fuel oil, fuel and electricity. The solar power plant project that we have launched in September 2021 should enable us to significantly reduce our fuel oil consumption. This is an integral part of our goal: to be a reference in the field of mining, in compliance with the best global standards.
