Exploration, the driving force behind Eramet’s development

Eramet’s Exploration unit employs 70 people, most of whom work in the field, and some at the Group’s R&D center, where they carry out mineralurgical and geometallurgical studies on the samples taken. Its aim is to add new mining projects to the Group’s portfolio, in order to sustain its level of mining resources and contribute to the demand for metals in the energy transition.

In countries where Eramet operates, notably Gabon, Indonesia and Argentina, the unit also provides support to local exploration teams.

Embodying CSR in the field

Our exploration geologists are often the first point of contact with Eramet for local populations and public authorities. They are genuine ambassadors for the Group, implementing rigorous, verifiable standards in order to ensure that ethics and dialogue are at the heart of our responsible mining approach.

The geologist acts as the Group’s CSR ambassador right from the exploration phase. He or she is responsible for explaining what we intend to do and how we intend to do it, so that there are no misunderstandings, because respect for the environment and the communities in which we operate is our top priority.
