As part of its CSR roadmap Act for Positive Mining, and more specifically its first pillar “Care for People”, the Eramet group is actively pursuing health prevention efforts.

These initiatives also align with the commitments made under the common social protection framework agreement “Eramet Global Care”, signed in June 2024, which provides for two annual screening and/or prevention actions, vaccination campaigns, and targeted programs addressing overweight, sedentary lifestyles, and addictions.

2025: A Year Focused on Cancer Screening

Skin Cancer Screening in Mainland France

In 2025, Eramet launched a skin cancer screening campaign at several of its sites in France (Trappes, Clermont-Ferrand, Paris). This initiative enabled 80 employees to undergo a thorough dermatological examination, and 10% of those screened showed signs suggestive of skin cancer, allowing for early medical intervention.

Preparations in New Caledonia

Ahead of the upcoming skin cancer screening campaign in New Caledonia, a nurse from SLN received specific training in using an innovative AI-assisted detection system: Anapix®. This device will soon be deployed on site to strengthen local screening capabilities and improve early detection of suspicious skin lesions.

Fighting Women’s Cancers in Gabon and Senegal

Since the beginning of the year, the medical imaging unit at the Marcel Abéké Hospital in Comilog (open to both employees and local communities) has been equipped with a mammography machine, significantly improving breast cancer detection.

In Gabon, Eramet also launched a campaign to screen for human papillomavirus (HPV), in partnership with MEDILAB and the Gabonese Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. This initiative aims to prevent cervical cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related death among women in the country, ahead of breast cancer.

The campaign targets around 200 volunteer women from Mounana, Sucaf, Bakoumba, Mvengue, and Moanda. To date, 169 women have been screened. The screening method is based on PCR amplification of the HPV genome, a gold-standard approach for early and reliable detection. The action will be followed by a vaccination campaign, reinforcing long-term prevention efforts.

In Senegal, 91 female employees of Eramet Grande Côte received vouchers to undergo mammograms and breast ultrasounds. In 22% of cases, suspicious images were detected, allowing for further examinations and close follow-up in coordination with the Occupational Health Service.

Global Actions Across All Countries

Beyond cancer screening, Eramet sites lead a wide range of health prevention initiatives throughout the year, addressing both physical and psychological conditions.

  • In New Caledonia, SLN employees have monthly access to a chiropractor. The company also raises awareness among managers about post-traumatic stress and offers a multidisciplinary obesity management program for employees.
  • In Jakarta, Indonesia, female employees received online awareness sessions on breast cancer with a physician. They also have access to a dietitian, fitness coach, and psychologist through a dedicated app. Awareness sessions on addiction (focused on gambling and smoking) have also been conducted.
  • In Senegal, Eramet Grande Côte raises employee awareness about occupational risks in mining environments (noise, dust, heat, fatigue), as well as various health conditions such as hypertension, malaria, musculoskeletal disorders, flu, hepatitis B, diabetes, and obesity.

These actions are a concrete demonstration of Eramet’s commitment to workplace health and well-being. By embedding prevention into its global social policy, the Group reaffirms its dedication to protecting employees while contributing to public health in the regions where it operates.
