ERAMET has supported the Coup de Pouce Clé project since 2010. The Groupe has renewed its commitment to this reading support programme for schoolchildren for 2013-2014.
Created by Apféé (association for equal opportunities at school), Coup de Pouce Clé (“helping hand”) clubs are a programme for schoolchildren aged 6 and up who don’t have the support they need at home with learning to read and write.
Facilitated by education professionals, the clubs take place outside school hours. There are just five children by club to ensure individualised, attentive monitoring for each of them. Parents are also involved in the life of the clubs and encouraged to take up good habits in support of their children at home.
Since its launch in 1994, the initiative has demonstrated its effectiveness in every town it is active, through appraisals and surveys. Coup de Pouce Clé clubs enable children to learn by giving them self-confidence and motivation, and by associating reading with pleasure.
In the 2011-2012 school year, more than 10,000 children took part in 282 towns. The ERAMET Groupe supports 12 Coup de Pouce Clé clubs near two of its French sites, Dunkerque and Grenoble.
