Aubert & Duval, an ERAMET Groupe’s subsidiary, is one of the consortium partners which have just formed SoFIA, an applied research program for metal additive manufacturing.
The ambition of SoFIA program (Solutions pour la Fabrication Industrielle Additive métallique – Solutions for Industrial Metal Additive Manufacturing) is to contribute to the development of this manufacturing method by working on the entire chain, from powders to finished parts. The aim is to develop technological bricks which can be used to manufacture robust parts at competitive prices, particularly to meet the requirements of the aviation industry.
SoFIA was initiated by the Fives Michelin Additive Solutions joint-venture and is based on the complementary skills of its industrial players and academic institutions partners. Among them: Aubert & Duval, Michelin, Safran, Zodiac Aerospace companies as well as the CNRS.
