Exploration, the driving force behind Eramet’s development
Eramet’s Exploration unit employs 70 people, most of whom work in the field, and some at the Group’s R&D center, where they carry out mineralurgical and geometallurgical studies on the samples taken. Its aim is to add new mining projects to the Group’s portfolio, in order to sustain its level of mining resources and contribute to the demand for metals in the energy transition.
In countries where Eramet operates, notably Gabon, Indonesia and Argentina, the unit also provides support to local exploration teams.

The Exploration unit assisted Comilog in setting up a dedicated structure in Gabon (Comilog Exploration S.A.), which was awarded its first exploration permit in 2022. A geophysical survey has been carried out and the first prospecting work under this permit will begin in 2023.

A team based in Indonesia is dedicated to prospecting and evaluating potential laterite deposits. It has embarked on an ambitious program to systematically review the archipelago’s potential. The team is also exploring partnership opportunities to participate in the public licensing of reserve areas and areas suitable for exploration.
