The Eramet Beyond Program
The Eramet Beyond for Contributive Impacts program, notably aimed at supporting economic diversification beyond the Group’s value chain and to assist young people in their educational journeys, is being deployed in Indonesia through a scholarship project.
In 2024, Eramet launched a scholarship program in partnership with the Kitong Bisa Foundation, providing financial support to 42 students to pursue higher education and develop new career perspectives. The program targets students from North Maluku, Papua, and Sulawesi. Following a rigorous selection process, each selected student received a two-year scholarship to cover tuition fees, daily living expenses, and book purchases, whether they are pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree. The scholarship allocation is complemented by a mentorship program designed to help them improve their English proficiency and develop digital, financial management, communication, and project management skills.
In 2025, Eramet also partnered with the YCAB Foundation to roll out the flagship Women for Future program in Indonesia, following its successful implementation in Senegal, Gabon, and Argentina. This partnership aims to support, over a two-year period, 600 women entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds and leading micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Jakarta and Ternate. The program focuses on strengthening their capacities and improving their access to markets and financing. Participants will benefit from training in financial literacy and digital marketing, masterclasses, and networking opportunities to help professionalize their businesses.
Our Economic Contribution
In Indonesia, the Eramet group, through its minority participation in the PT Weda Bay Nickel joint venture, generated a local economic contribution of €427.4 million1 in 2024. Our joint venture paid €155.9 million1 in taxes and duties, spent €257 million1 on procurement and subcontracting, and paid €10.8 million1 in wages. PT Weda Bay Nickel’s activities led to the creation of 16,784 direct jobs1.
The infrastructure projects carried oud by PT Weda Bay Nickel included the construction of rural roads, the renovation of places of worship and schools, drainage works, and the launch of a drinking water treatment project for the city of Weda. In the health sector, equipment was provided to several medical facilities, including the regional hospital of Maba.
Beyond this economic impact, PT Weda Bay Nickel implemented a local development program structured around four pillars – infrastructure, education, health, and economic diversification – benefiting more than 61,000 people. Its community investment and sponsorship/philanthropic contributions amounted to nearly €4 million1 for the year.
