Mais saviez-vous que le mangan\u00e8se, majoritairement utilis\u00e9 pour \u00e9laborer l\u2019acier, est lui aussi n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la fabrication de ce type de batteries\u00a0?<\/p>\n<p>Dans la grande famille des batteries au lithium, il existe plusieurs sous-cat\u00e9gories de produits, telles que les batteries LFP (Lithium, Fer, Phosphate) ou les batteries NMC (Nickel, Mangan\u00e8se, Cobalt). Bien que ces derni\u00e8res ne comportent que de petits volumes de mangan\u00e8se, celui-ci est bien indispensable \u00e0 la fabrication des cathodes, par lesquelles sort le courant. Et en plus d\u2019\u00eatre tr\u00e8s r\u00e9sistantes, les batteries NMC ont \u00e9galement l\u2019avantage d\u2019\u00eatre plus l\u00e9g\u00e8res et plus rapides \u00e0 la recharge que les batteries LFP.<\/p>\n<p>Ce mangan\u00e8se, d\u2019o\u00f9 vient-il\u00a0? Aujourd\u2019hui, la majorit\u00e9 de la production se situe en Chine, d\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de s\u00e9curiser des approvisionnements d\u2019une autre provenance. Eramet poss\u00e8de justement dans son portefeuille de produits l\u2019ensemble des \u00e9l\u00e9ments n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la fabrication de batteries et, plus globalement, \u00e0 la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique\u00a0: le mangan\u00e8se via Comilog et Setrag au Gabon\u00a0; mais aussi le lithium avec la mine de Centenario en Argentine, et le nickel \u00e0 Weda Bay en Indon\u00e9sie.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>On constate un regain d&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat pour le mangan\u00e8se, et notre minerai est particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 pour sa qualit\u00e9 et les engagements RSE li\u00e9s \u00e0 sa production<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb, pr\u00e9cise Thomas Dugravot, Senior Sales Manager BU Mangan\u00e8se. \u00ab\u00a0<em>Il y a un avenir dans cette fili\u00e8re. Nous recevons des demandes de nombreux producteurs automobiles tels que Renault ou Tesla, qui souhaitent s\u00e9curiser leurs approvisionnements.<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En parlant d\u2019avenir, Eramet a justement sign\u00e9 en d\u00e9cembre 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eramet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/2023-12-19-CP-Eramet-x-Vibrantz.pdf\">un accord commercial avec l\u2019entreprise am\u00e9ricaine Vibrantz<\/a>, sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les produits chimiques pour les batteries lithium-ion. \u00c0 travers cet accord, Eramet s\u2019engage \u00e0 fournir du minerai de mangan\u00e8se \u00e0 Vibrantz sur une dur\u00e9e de 10 ans, pour alimenter la production de sulfate de mangan\u00e8se, un ingr\u00e9dient cl\u00e9 pour les cathodes de batteries.<\/p>\n<p>Les deux partenaires souhaitent aussi apporter leur pierre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9difice d\u2019une fili\u00e8re responsable.
